Brooke holds a BA in Education and is currently pursuing her MA in Sociology & Social Research at Newcastle University. She is the winner of the 2025 BERA Undergraduate Award for her thesis, ‘Educational support for secondary school students with long term health conditions in England: Using the biopsychosocial model of disability to understand the impact of educational support on students’ experiences.’ Brooke has experience of working in a range of childcare and education settings as a nursery assistant, crèche practitioner, and exams invigilator. Her interest in the experience of having a long term illness originally arose from her own experience of this, however this interest has grown due to working with children and young people with diverse needs, and through researching the experiences of marginalised individuals in society. As such, her academic interests lie in social inequalities, with particular interest in health, disability and gender.
