Fadoua Govaerts is affiliated with the University of Bath in the Department of Education and is the founder of RE-KnoX (Research in Education – Knowledge Exchange), an initiative through which she organises international conferences in the Middle East and North Africa to provide a platform for Global South researchers. With nearly 20 years of experience in the education sector, Fadoua is deeply committed to advancing social justice and ensuring equitable access to education for all. Her research focuses on alternative education and systemic educational injustices, employing participatory research methods that engage young people as researchers. Her doctoral project explores the experiences of home-educated adolescents, emphasising their educational outcomes and social development. As a certified LEGO Serious Play facilitator, she incorporates innovative approaches to learning and collaboration. In her spare time, you can find her building LEGO, running, cooking, or baking.
